How to execute .bin file in Linux

Beginner Linux user often face a problem of executing .bin file. .bin refers to the self extracting binary files. In this tutorial I have going to install Adobe air which is under .bin extension. Now lets assume that you are windows user and have just switch to Linux. After downloading . bin files it doesn’t simply execute by doubling clicking on it. To execute the .bin file you have to run certain command in the terminal.

How to execute .bin file in Linux

chmod +x application.bin
 ./application.bin

Lets install Adobe air package now

Make sure that the downloaded fine is in Home directory. If it is into different directory enter into that particular directory. If you are unfamiliar with such command see 8 basic command tutorial for Linux user

chmod +x AdobeAIRInstaller.bin
./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin
