Webilder: Download image from flickr webshot and use it as wallpaper

Webilder is the stunning application that will deliver wonderful wallpaper to your Linux from Flickr, webshots and your local folders. The image can be automatically obtain when user specify certain keyword tag like(cars, bike). Webilder automatically download the wallpaper based on the tag and display as wallpaper on your desktop. Furthermore the application automatically change or rotate wallpaper on specific time defined by the user.

Installation process.
Ubuntu or Debian user can download .deb file and install directly into their desktop however other Linux user can download tar.gz file. In this tutorial I am assuming that you are using Ubuntu and installing .deb file However the installation of tar.gz file is slightly different than this process.

1. Open your terminal(CTRL+ALT+T) and use following wget command to download webilder .deb file

wget http://www.webilder.org/static/downloads/webilder_0.7.2-1_all.deb

2. you can double click on deb file to install it or use the following command.  To know more about .deb installation through command line click here

sudo dpkg -i webilder_0.7.2-1.all.deb

3. To fix the dependencies issue use the following command to force the installation process. Ignore any error that you get during installation process

sudo apt-get install -f

Note: If you are installation .deb file without using command line ignore step 3

Webilder Interface

There are four menu General, Flickr, Webshots and advance in Webilder Preferences. User can set the time to rotate wallpaper and configure the auto-download of new wallpaper in certain interval of time

Download the image from flickr using recommended tag and display them as wallpaper. Now you don’t have to go to flickr and search your desired wallpaper manually. Webilder do everything automatically to you.

You can also download the photo from webshots . The image can be download in several quality.

In Advance setting user can change the directory of the collection of wallaper. Wallpaper setting available for GNOME3, GNOME, KDE, XFCE and compiz plugin  helps to configure the wallpaper according to the desktop environment you use.  The download can be filter by landscape photos only.

Lastly click on download photo or use CTRL+D and the download process will be begin shortly

Final Collusion: Webilder can be use as a wallpaper downloading tools or can be use on several other purpose. The basic purpose of this application is to arrange the wallpaper of your Linux desktop. The easy use interface is another plus point to use this. Changing of wallpaper on certain interval of time is another plus point of Webilder.

    I like it and have had it install but with Ubuntu 12.04 it won’t install properly. =-( The installation reports that the package is broken.
